2011 Children’s Christmas Party

The annual Christmas party for our members’ children took place on Sunday, December 11th in Grenoble at the Maison Diocesaine. We had a great turn out. The children had a lot of fun making Christmas ornaments, playing games, singing carols, and of course visiting with Santa. Thanks to everyone who participated and a special thanks to Kira Froude who made it all happen so smoothly!

The Annual Christmas Apéro

Our Christmas apéritif was held on Saturday, December 10th at the Maison Diocésaine de Grenoble. As you can see from the photos below, we had a great time mingling, singing Christmas carols, nibbling on hors d’oeuvres catered from L’Etoile and cheese from Les Alpages, and of course drinking a little bubbly! A big thank you to all who helped make this night a great success!

Annual Spring Picnic!

Today was Open House’s Annual picnic!  Despite the weather forecast for rain, we had a beautiful afternoon at CUJD in Montbonnot-St-Martin.  We also a had great turn out (90+ people)

The kids and adults enjoyed many water games (water balloons, water fights, jumping roping with cups of water…), ice cream treats and even a hula performance!

We’d like to thank all the volunteers who grilled, helped set-up, helped clean-up, helped with the games and most especially Veronica for once again planning a wonderful event.  Oh and much thanks to our bartenders for keeping us hydrated!!!

Today’s picnic marked the end of Veronica’s term as President of Open House.  Our new President is Patty Ferreira.

Some of our BBQ masters, grilling and serving.

Water Balloon Toss

Hula performance from the Wellness Group.

Can you jump rope with a cup of water in your hand?  These two can!

Thank you Veronica (in the green) for a wonderful two years!!!!  You’ve made Open House such a fun group to be a part of.

Spring Treasure Hunt!

This past Saturday, Open House hosted their first Spring Treasure Hunt.  It took place at the Centre de Theologique in Meylan. There were about 40 kids who attended the event.  After making their own baskets, the children went on their treasure hunt at the center’s park.  Kids 3 and under got a few minutes head start before the older kids took off. It was a warm, beautiful day and we were glad the trees kept most of the treats from melting.

A big huge thanks to Veronica for organizing the event, despite having to  rush off to the US right afterwards for a family emergency.

The Children’s Christmas Party!

The OH children had a festive afternoon at the this year’s Christmas party!

The kids decorated their own Santa’s hats, played games, had pizza and sweet treats, and took pictures with Santa!  The children had a great time and were happy to take home candies, a new book, a present from Santa, and a Christmas cookie and candy cane as well.

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the Children’s party, especially Nuria, Anne, Sharron, Melissa, & Amanda!

The party ended with a “make-your-own trail mix” table.

Christmas Apero

This year’s annual holiday party was festive and fun.  We had great wine, great food, and plenty of entertainment.

The winner of our wine tasting contest was….Kiri (thanks to her loving husband Jean-Marc)

The winner of the “Ugly X-mas Sweater” contest was Sherri!

Thanks to all of our volunteers who really helped to make the party a success.  Special thanks go to Bernard and Rachel who took on a great deal of responsibility for the food and beverages.
